Courage: A Poem by Richard Geer
Arielle Gabriel

Courage is something I feel that I never have quite enough of, rather like strength. I am more aware of the virtues that I lack that the ones that I have an over-abundance of. Looking at oneself from a detached perspective, it is only too possible to have a surfeit of a virtue, which then risks becoming a defect!

I wrote this book to encourage and to inspire others. Please add ideas from your own life stories in the comments section. Thanks.

Is the lion the king of the jungle? Or is it the lioness who is a better hunter? Or is it the giraffe who eats only grass? Though I love pictures of jungle animals, I do not think I would care to live in the jungle. I like the giraffe as a metaphor, who sees the farthest with her eyes, who stands the tallest, and who has the largest heart.
